EICR for Tower Hamlets landlords
Landlords across Tower Hamlets book our eicr service every week. Tower Hamlets covers E1, E2, E3, E14 and the wider Tower Hamlets area, with housing stock that ranges from one of London's highest-density rental markets — converted warehouses, new-build towers around Canary Wharf, and Victorian terraces in Bow and Bethnal Green. Our accredited engineers attend at short notice, carry out the inspection on site, and issue your EICR the same day — whether the property sits close to Canary Wharf or on the Hackney, Newham and Southwark border.
Older wiring runs through much of Tower Hamlets's stock, and any tenanted property in the borough now needs a satisfactory EICR at intervals of no more than five years under the 2020 Electrical Safety Standards Regulations. In practice we see a large volume of EICR work across converted flats in the E1 and E2 postcodes.
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a formal inspection and test of the fixed wiring in a property — the consumer unit, circuits, sockets, switches, light fittings and earthing and bonding arrangements. Our NICEIC / NAPIT certified electricians dead-test and live-test the installation against BS 7671, record every observation with a classification code, and issue a clear Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory report. Since 1 April 2021 this has been a legal requirement for every tenanted residential property in England.
Where we work in Tower Hamlets
We cover Tower Hamlets in full — every postcode from E1 through E14 — and also the neighbouring boroughs of Hackney, Newham, Southwark and Greenwich in the same visit routing. Where a job falls inside the Central London Congestion Charge zone, or paid parking applies at the property, both are always shown up front on your quote rather than added afterwards.
Neighbouring boroughs we also cover: Hackney, Newham, Southwark, Greenwich. Booking two services in the same visit — for example a EICR and a Gas Safety Certificate — saves your tenant a second appointment.
Your legal duty as a landlord
The Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020 require landlords to have the fixed electrical installation inspected and tested by a qualified person at intervals of no more than five years. You must give a copy of the report to existing tenants within 28 days of the inspection, to any new tenant before they move in, and to the local authority within seven days if requested. If the report requires remedial or further investigative work, it must be completed within 28 days (or sooner if the report specifies), and you must obtain written confirmation that the work has been carried out. Non-compliance carries a financial penalty of up to £30,000 per breach.
